Baby L Update - 26w4d (Last update of the 2nd trimester!!)

Happy Sunday folks!

It's been an OK week here in our household and I can't say there's much new to report since the last couple posts.

Yesterday Jon and I enjoyed a lovely date day just the two of us. We went down to Seaport Village here in San Diego and enjoyed a late lunch overlooking the pier. While enjoying a lunch of shrimp and fries, a waiter spilled an entire margarita one me, which was definitely a brisk surprise. And, it was kind of a tease because I would have loved to have had a sip. To add insult to that, they compensated us by offering us a free bar drink, which obviously I couldn't have. So, Jon had a margarita. It looked SO good. But, I got ice cream later, and I felt better about it.

After roaming the village for awhile, we took off and got ice cream at Baskin Robbins, did a little shopping at Target and stopped at the grocery store. It was such a great day to just enjoy each other's company. We know it will definitely be a little harder to have days like that when the little man arrives, so I've been appreciating days like that much more :-)

Last night, I also finally created a page for my blog on Facebook so that friends and family could be updated automatically when I wrote, as opposed to me having to post in in my status a lot. So, if you want to go to the sidebar and "Like" the blog on Facebook to get updates, do feel free to do that ;-)

In baby-related news, we scheduled a newborn session with a fabulous photographer and friend, Shawn of Shawn K Photography. (Check out some of his great work here). And, while I wasn't originally planning on doing a professional maternity session, the package that he offered was one we couldn't really refuse, so we scheduled one of those too. I am so excited to get to finally work with Shawn, as we've known him ever since we've moved down here. He's is one of the pastors at the church we go to, Jon plays basketball with him quite often and — this can't go without mentioning — he played a huge role in our really successful move last month (Thanks again, Shawn!!). I am SO excited!! Now it's just a matter of figuring out what to wear....

And, now that we're into baby-related things, let us move on to the weekly update!
I didn't notice much change since last week, but that's just me...

How far along?: 26w4d — This time next week, it will be the third trimester!!!
How big is baby?:  Just over 14 inches from head to toe (or 10 inches from head to booty) and approximately 1 lb. and 11 oz. (1 & 2/3 lbs)! His ears are more developed now, so he's responding to both my voice and Jon's voice (and I've also felt him jump at a couple loud noises he's not used to).
Weight gain/loss?: Well, at the doctor's appointment it said I gained another 5 pounds this month. That brings the grand total up to 14 lbs. Considering I thought it would be closer to 10 (because that's just how big I feel) I was very happy. I know I'm going to gain weight — I am pregnant after all. I'm just hoping to keep it to maybe 10 lbs more... but we'll see how that goes.
Stretch marks?: I think I saw a couple new ones brewing on my tummy. I've also come to terms with this.
Maternity clothes?: Old Navy was having a 25% off sale this last Friday, so I went a little crazy and bought a couple staples that I feel will be good to have in the coming months. I still need to find cute maternity garb for the baby shower my besties are throwing for me when we go home... I think that may be next weekend's mission.
Sleep?: Very good sleep actually. Saturday night I had hip pain waking me up every 1.5 hours or so after 4 a.m. and this morning I woke up and my back was hurting, but other than that I really, really can't complain. I'm still not having to get up to go to the bathroom, so I'm  thoroughly enjoying that while it lasts.
Food cravings?: Still just loving sweets, though I'm trying to limit myself here. What would I have done if I hadn't passed my glucose test!?
Gender?: As far as I'm aware, he's still a he ;-)
Movement?: Several party days this week, as well as a couple lazy days. It's funny how I can tell when he rotates. Typically if it's a quiet day, it means his feet are down in my abdomen by my bladder (because that's where I feel any kicks I do feel!) and if it's a party day, his feet are usually up by my ribs or over on one of my sides. Yesterday, we were having a lazy Saturday morning and Jon was laying with his head on my stomach. The kid was going crazy kicking his face!
What are you looking forward to this week?: The countdown is on for our visit home, and I find that that's what I'm most excited about these days. I'm also going to make a couple pediatrician calls this week in hopes of tracking down a doctor we feel worthy of being in charge of our kiddo's medical care. I hope that turns up some good results!

Well, that's all she wrote folks! Hope you have a great, restful Sunday afternoon and a phenomenal start to your week!

Comments literally make my day. Maybe week even. So, bless you.
